ABOUT ME

I first discovered a love of printmaking while studying for a GNVQ Adv in Art and Design at Hereford Art College and a Decorative Arts Degree in Nottingham during the 90’s. I returned to it around 10 years ago while attempting to find balance with my day job as a freelance Art Teacher and a need to get back to my own creative practice.

During my training I worked with many different printing techniques, but my focus is now mainly with lino, collagraph and drypoint and I love to teach these processes on my workshops too.

Although originally from the Midlands, I have lived in many different areas in the UK but am now very settled living on Harrow Hill in the village of Drybrook in the Forest of Dean with my husband and our two teenage children. My printmaking studio is in the grounds of our garden where I create my work overlooking beautiful views of the forest and I also teach small groups on my printmaking workshops.

My Work

I enjoy the endless possibilities of creating a printing block or plate and the magic and excitement of pulling the first print never fades. All of my prints start with a drawing, before deciding if they will become a linocut, drypoint or collagraph print. Most of my current work has developed into lino, I love the strong design element that the linocut process encourages with its bold graphic lines and considered mark-making.

As well as limited edition original prints, I also print my designs onto cards, gifts and homewares which I sell direct from my studio shop, online and through various stockists across the UK.

A teacher at heart

Before I was a freelance primary school Art Teacher, I worked as a trainer for an NHS trust in London, training non medical staff on admin and management courses. When I set up my business as a Printmaker it was an obvious and natural transition for me to teach alongside my own creative practice and I run half day workshops at my studio and in various venues across the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. I also regularly up with other local artists to offer all day workshop experiences combining our skills.

A few years ago I developed my own Linocut Print Kits which allow my student to continue with their printmaking journey after the workshop.
