Limited edition, original linocut print of 50 titled ‘Sea Holly’ and signed by me, Sarah Delahoy, Printmaker and owner of DelARTful Designs Printmaking Studio.
My Sea Holly drawing, which also features a dragonfly, bee and snail, was hand carved into the lino using sharp pfeil cutting tools and individually printed on 38 x 26.5cm Zerkall 145gsm smooth white paper in a mix of Prussian and Phthalo Blue ink in my studio.
The Sea Holly is actually more closely related to the carrot than to the Holly but the spiky blue leaves makes it live up to its name. Found on coastlines and sand dunes the rounded blue, teasel-like flower heads make it also look like a thistle when in bloom. This linocut print forms part of a collection of prints of botanical forms featuring spiky leaved wild flowers and insects.
Due to the nature of hand printing each print may be slightly different making each one unique and original.
